Top Injuries Update: Nicás Otamendi for Benfica Football.

Nicolas Otamendi has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury in the opening game of the Portuguese Primeira Liga campaign.

The Argentina international, who joined Benfica on loan from Manchester City in January, was replaced by Rúben Dias at half-time against Académica de Coimbra.

He is expected to be sidelined until early next year, with the club currently looking for a replacement for him.

Otamendi's absence is a significant blow for Benfica, who were already struggling without their star defender in the Premier League.

However, they have also had to cope with the loss of other key players due to injury and illness, including Joao Cancelo, who recently underwent surgery.

Despite this, Benfica remain in good form and sit top of Group B in the Champions League.

But with Otamendi out, they will need to find another strong option at centre-back to fill his void.
